VERY rare style of painting from the later half of the 19th Century,  This painting of moonlight shining through clouds at night evokes the peaceful beauty and mystery of a moment in a forest with a lone rowboat.  Oil paintings at night time are a rare commodity and this moody, dusky image is masterfully yet unsigned.   The painting is gold gesso ogee style (as is) frame measuring 17h x 13w inches.  The oil painting is 8.5" x 4".
