Squirrel Nut Dish Squirrel Charles Young, Philadelphia Silver Plated
So special... this antique, 19th century, Silver-plate Figural Nut Bowl is offered for the collector. The base has a branch design and the bowl is engraved with leaves with figural squirrel handles. This wonderful piece comes with noted restoration, sometime in the past 140 years, this bowl suffered a serious damage. The previous owner brought it to a silversmith who rounded the bowl and silver soldered the splits in the seams. One squirrel handle was reattached but regardless quite rare. Measuring 7” tall to the top of the handle by 13” across at the squirrel handles, this Silver-plate Nut Bowl is marked on bottom “Chas De Young Quadruple Plate Phil, Pat. Feb. 24, 1880.” This rare Squirrel Nut Bowl now displays nicely.
