THE STORY OF ILLUME...

Illume owner, Ron Scinto opened the Antique and Artisan Center in Stamford CT in 1996.  At the time it was groundbreaking. He and his partner Mark Candido were the pioneers of redefining the concept of a multi-dealer antique center to what it is now defined as today.  They opened to rave reviews from the New York Times, House Beautiful, Martha Stewart, Elle Decor, Southern Accents, Connecticut Cottage and Gardens, Greenwich Living, (even Broadway’s Harvey Fierstein wrote about how fab AAC was) and well healed decorators and designers like Marc Hampton, Albert Hadley, John Rosselli, Stephen Sills, Nate Berkus, Ellie Cullman and so many others for creating such a venue that offered antique dealers the ability to showcase their wares in a show-like setting with great lighting, music and customer service.  Their clientele who discovered and shopped this treasure trove in the (yet to be gentrified) South-End (of industrial) Stamford included Senator Hillary (so awesome and who held their dog Parker in her arms for 15 minutes) and her daughter Chelsea Clinton, Judge Judy (so fabulous), Dina Merrill, Diana Ross (wonderful), Mary Tyler Moore, Shelley Hack (fabulous), Mary Travers, Vera Wang, Gene Wilder, Tom Ford, Amy Irving, Harry Connick Jr, B.Smith, Andy Rooney, William F Buckley, Stephanie Seymour, Tommy and Suzie Hilfiger, Dan Scotto, and their personal favorite 6 time Daytime Emmy Award Winning Best Actress Erika Slezak ... the list went on... READ MORE
